The new playground is great and the facilities are nice, but the programming needs work. You could probably show up and bring your kid to their gymnastics class for free because they don't know the kids names, nor do they take any attendance, plus the class size is way too large. I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving my kid alone here because the adults simply don't seem to be on top of their game, unfortunately. Other rec centers in the area have much better programming. I really hope EV rec center improves their classes for the future, it could be a great spot!
Pay close attention to your kids, this park encourages cheating in sports. The volleyball team was composed of mixed players from park and elite club. They play against my daughter’s team tonight and clearly you could see the difference from a team that got together two months ago and their team that has years of experience. If Los Angeles parks and recreation is trying to create an environment of fair play, fun and a chance for sport growth, the parks’ administration should enforce more regulations and not just look the other way. Hard working coaches deserve respect.
Council District 13 Covid Vaccination site. Very organized, 30 min in and out!
This is specifically focused on the Summer Camp program at this place. We had our son in this program, and we felt that he really wasn't looked after very well. There were problems with bullies, a lack of communication with the adults about the week's procedure's and activities. We often time had to ask for details, and the "counselors" that work there weren't very friendly or courteous. Overall, we did not feel our son was looked after properly, the workers seem to engage more among themselves than with the actual campers/kids. This place used to be run better IMO.
I called a month or so ago about an employee field tender that threatened both myself and my dog when the no dogs allowed signs were first put up. It was a shame to see that man still works there today. A threat to the community. Violent no less. Still there intimidating others. Really disappointed. AS IT TURNS OUT THIS MAN IS I BELIEVE THE MANAGER OF THE FACILITY. WOW!!!!
Elysian Valley Recreation Park. Have Events, On Tuesday THEY HAVE BINGO, At 10 A.M. TO 12 Noon 12 P.M. They have Other Event After That Bingo. Fine Out By Calling the Recreation Office. They Will Give YOU What Information What YOU NEED. NEXT TUESDAY I'LL TAKE PICTURES.
Gym was air conditioned! You can't beat that when it's in the 90's outside. 6 basketball goals so you have a better chance to shoot around on your own basket.
World Dodgeball Society's Frogtown league happens here every Thursday evening from 8p-10p. Compared to other gyms that leagues take place, this location is a little dim and wider in court size. Not a huge fan of this location for the game of dodgeball.
EVRC is probably one of the best hidden, excellent spots for your kids to participate in activites and sports! It's a Class Park, which says a lot! Come, join us!
My son loves it here! He has played basketball n baseball so far and both programs have been great !
